You break through the trees and find yourself standing in knee-high grass
on the edge of a small field.  Overhead, the branches from surrounding trees
create a canopy covering the entire area in shade.  The temperature has
dropped dramatically from that of the trail, but it's still bearable.  To
the southeast, southwest, and northwest, small openings can be seen in the
foliage.
