Roads from all over used to connect at this point, the Center Square, and
lead to all areas of the city.  The elegantly paved road leads southwest
toward the public square and northeast to what was once the city gates.  The
east and west once connected to the residential areas and quiet streets but
have been sealed off by hardened lava deposits.  A beam of sunlight leaves a
bright spot in the water here, coming from a tiny crack in the ceiling
upward to the outside world.  In the middle of the crossings is a rather
ornate sign staked onto the sea bed.  
     An amazing flow of air bubbles up from a small fountain here.
