Ancient cobblestones form an uneven surface underfoot.  Rounded by
centuries of traffic, the small rocks have been polished by generations of
leather boots rubbing across them.  Connecting Lewis Street with Bastion
Road, the road was named for the enormous maple tree that stands at its far
eastern end, forcing the street to make a jog to the north.  
     A small brown ball of waste has been dropped here.
