  Immediately after the establishment of the tetrarchy, Diocletian erected
this great triple-passageway arch to commemorate the power of his kingdom.
The second-century reliefs of the arch are fashioned to honor himself and
his three emperors, and have been labeled, Fundator Quietus (bringer of
peace) and Liberator Urbis (liberator of the city).  Roughly 60 feet in
height, the arch serves as an example of the monumental scale to which the
Palace of Diocletian has been built.  To the left and right of the arch span
two equally high fortified walls which encase the complex.  The archways to
your northwest, north, and northeast are the only entry ways to the palace.
     A fountain engraved with silver runes is flowing gently here.

  The reliefs on this arch appear to be a presentation of a pictorial
narrative.  From what you can see, it appears to be telling the tale of the
establishment of the tetrarchy.  In order to restore power to his
destablized kingdom, Diocletian decided to share power with his three
potential rivals, and so he established the tetrarchy (rule by four).  The
relief goes on to show that, together the four emperors ruled without strife
and have maintained this area without opposition.  Curiously the relief ends
there, you now turn your eyes to the actual palace.  To your north you see
the central section of the palace, which appears to include gardens, lecture
halls, and other rooms, all enclosed within a great concrete perimeter wall.

nothingness, as you pass between the thin veil between the physical and the ethereal
planes... There is a sensation of falling, falling forever, when suddenly you land
SLAM on nothing.
You turn translucent.
You feel a soft prickling on the back of your neck as your senses are heightened.

Your feet rise a few inches off the ground.
You feel a sharp prickling on the back of your neck as your senses are heightened.
A haze of crimson and gold sparks flit across your field of vision.
There is a bright flash of blue light, and you vanish to the Ethereal Plane.
