Sensing that the end of their journey was drawing near, the party
traveled even deeper into the earth. Braving vicious winds that left them
gasping for air and threatening to knock them off their feet, they finally
came to the source of the storm.
In the center of a small cavern, the warriors discovered a whirling
disturbance in the air the likes of which they had never seen. The terrible
cyclone spun furiously, driving all the oxygen from the room. Struggling to
breathe, none of the members of the band were able to get close enough to
strike out with their weapons.
Just as the situation began to look hopeless, the wizard managed to make
her way to the edge of the cave. Bracing herself behind a large stone, she
began to recite the words of a powerful incantation. With a bold gesture, a
wave of energy flew from her hand and into the whirlwind.
A horrible scream was heard, and the spirit in the middle of the storm
was visible for the first time. The rage in its eyes was apparent, and it
moved forward to strike. However, the wizard was ready with another spell,
and as she gestured furiously the creature's intensity began to fade. It
struggled to fly more quickly, but could do nothing against the magic. By
the time Catalana had finished her spell, the apparition was no more.
