After many epic battles, the party had finally reached the end of their long journey through the mysterious dungeon. As they walked down a long, twisting passageway, they realized that a strange old man was standing in wait. "Ah, I see you have come at last," the old man said, smiling faintly. "The prophecy said it would be so. In order to proceed, you must discover the true name of the one who dwells within. Have you the three sacred tablets?" "Yes," replied the Hero solemnly. "Very well. Give to me the first part of the name," the old man said. The Hero bestowed upon the guardian a heavy tablet of silver. "Aye," said the old man. "This is the one. Give to me the second part of the name." The Hero bestowed upon the guardian a heavy tablet of bronze. "Aye," said the old man. "This is the one. Give to me the final part of the name, and your journey will be finished at last." Reaching deep into his satchel, the Hero produced a tablet of gold. "This is truly a day to be remembered for all time," said the old man. "You are indeed worthy to have come this far. Proceed, and complete your destiny." The party went forth triumphantly, reaching the final exit. However, as they moved to pass through, a strange force blocked their passage. "Alas, it is not our destiny to pass this way now," said the cavalier. "Please Sire, go forth and find success. We shall be waiting for you when you return." The others nodded their assent. The wizard began to speak the words of a spell, and she and her three companions were enveloped by swirling light. As it faded they disappeared, leaving the Hero alone. With a look of determination, the mighty Hero known as Agrippa passed through the doorway to complete his quest. |
