After wandering carefully through the area, the party finally came upon a
strange room that was unlike any of the others nearby. Large rock
protrusions extended from the floor and ceiling, and a chill filled the air.
Proceeding with caution, the warriors came upon a large chasm in the
ground. It lay filled with a strange blue mist that swirled and drifted
before their eyes. The haze slowly began to rise above them, and a pair of
glowing red eyes revealved themselves.
The terrible spirit glared at them with an otherworldly menace, and
drifted forward. The warriors swung their weapons with all their might, but
they passed right through the creature's translucent body.
With a frown, the priest stepped back and began to chant in a low, solemn
voice. A white ray of light from above penetrated the darkness, striking
his staff and causing it to glow with a holy radiance. When he swung the
weapon, it connected solidly with the creature, causing it to howl in agony.
The weapon shone brightly as it passed through the spirit's body,
dissipating the mist throughout the area. Soon, there was nothing left to
suggest that it had ever existed in the first place. Edmund placed his
staff neatly through the straps of his backpack, and the band continued on
its way.
