was sent by an agent of Lord Agrippa, if not the man himself. It appears to
be half mission statement, half recruitment letter.
Dearest Irvin,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. It has been far too long since
you've visited the Council of Lords and Ladies and apprised us of the
training of our young Adventurers. New challenges are arising faster than
we can realistically address, and we request that you expedite training your
most promising recruits.
Most pressingly, we've received calls for help from the church within Rune
Forest, just north of your home in Lasler. Not only have necromancers been
spotted near the western edge of the forest, near the church's graveyard,
but one of the caretakers mentioned he spotted one of the necromancers'
assistants attempting to dig up a body in the middle of the night.
Lady Undya of Xaventry, to your north, and Lord Vashir, to your east, are
aware of this situation, but we require more able-bodied Adventurers to
assist, should the necromancers succeed at raising the dead. Presumably,
their first target would be the church itself, around which Rune Graveyard
has grown. As you know, a contingent of Knights and Paladins are stationed
at the church, but I fear they may need reinforcements. Keep this to
yourself, but the Council of the Seven has been advised that the Manari hero
has awoken, and while they are not ready for combat, they are already
preparing to fight the necromancers' undead forces.
Please select a number of your most promising students, and send them north
at your earliest possible convenience. Time is running out, and the only
thing worse than a quest ending in a pile of corpses is it ending with a
pile of hungry, angry corpses.
