NPC: The ghost of the gatemaster
Long Desc: A transparent figure is here, regarding you sadly.

This spirit stares into your eyes with a sadness that is almost
impossible to fathom.  It looks as though he desperately wants to tell you
something, but the ghost remains silent.  Perhaps this is the ancient
gatemaster of Arbaces, a servant of the Powers who was sent to watch over
the domain until the coming of the first of the great heroes.  The legends
say that his only task was to chronicle the journey of the Hero and his
companions, and afterwards he would be released from service.  However, upon
completing his task the gatemaster found that he was not nearly powerful
enough to make his way through the dungeon, and like many others after him,
perished.  Because of the powerful magic protecting the area, his spirit
remains trapped inside to this day.  While you feel deeply sad to learn that
these stories are true, something stirs in your mind.  Perhaps the writings
of the gatemaster are still here somewhere, and could help you on your
journeys through the domain.
He is a ghost approximately 5'6" tall.
