knotting ropes, the hangman fixes you with a dead stare.  You realize with a
chill that he is calculating your weight and gauging the length of rope
sufficient to compass your neck.  This guilded member of the Seekers for
Truth and Penitence has weighed you in his balance, and found you to be
suitable matter for his murderous jurisdiction.
