You are traveling along a rather narrow gravel road that goes in between
tall oak trees surrounding you.  The forest here is rather dense, but it
allows this road to part through it without any weeds or shrubs growing on
the walkway.  The trail is wide enough for one good sized merchant cart to
travel along it, but if the cart were to pass another going in the opposite
direction, there would be spacial problems.  
A gnomish follower of Maradas busily runs past you.
A weary adventurer is wandering the streets looking for a place to rest.
A local townsman busily goes about his business.
