At the top of the staircase, a small dark room begins.  All of the light
coming into this room comes from the chandelier that overhangs the first
floor foyer.  A long undecorated oak railing prevents the casual observer
from plummiting to their death on the cold stone below.  A hallway begins to
the north, however there is no light coming from that direction.  The
assassins who populate this fortress have little need for illumination, and
would prefer to cloak their presence in darkness.
An assassin stands on guard here, alert for intruders.
