The darkness in here would almost be complete if it wasn't for the bits
of light that are scattered around the room; there are several bottles of
glowing liquid, and a strange glass device that emits light every few
seconds.  The light reveals a very cluttered room, with large tables lining
the walls, each with a collection of strange and unusual items set upon it. 
Several books are scattered about the room, as are various bottles of
strange liquids, powders, and even a few exotic devices.  To the south is a
stout iron door, and to the west, the laboratory fades into darkness.
