You are standing at the bottom of a huge staircase, that winds up many
floors.  The staircase forms tight circles, hurting your eyes as you look up
at them.  The hall gets more and more narrow as it approaches the first step
of the staircase, reaching only a few feet wide at the base.
A bag lady has arrived from the northwest.
