You are climbing up one of Hellbent Mountain's steep faces.  The ground
slopes upwards at about a seventy-degree angle, and the ascent is proving to
be rather difficult.  There are a number of scraggly trees growing in the
loose soil, although they don't look very healthy.  However, they should be
sturdy enough to support your weight, and allow you to reach the top of the
cliff in front of you.
