At first it seems you may have wandered out of the public areas of the
Emporium into someone's private study.  The walls are expensively paneled,
the sconces are obviously quite pricey, and the fancy globe in the corner is
a cartographer's dream.  However, on second glance the presence of multiple
desks, each set up with fancy furnishings and labeled with a stock number,
clue you in that these are simply mocked up samples of the Emporium's wares.
Near the north wall a wrought-iron railing protrudes from the floor, and
leads down to a spiral staircase.  
     A small service bell has been installed into the wall here.
