Finally, the stream has ended, and your feet have a chance to dry
themselves off properly.  The small bits of gravel and stones, that the
glacier picked up and washed down the stream have landed here, providing a
safe haven from the freezing bitter water.  The air is much warmer, as
though some heat source is near by.
