At this point Raum Path circles back on itself, running around a large
hole in the ground.  You walk over to the stone fence near the edge of the
pit and attempt to peer inside, and you can see an orange glow coming from
within.  The sinkhole is one of the few volcanicly active spots in town, and
all efforts to fill it in have failed.  While jumping the barrier to the
east probably isn't a very safe idea, you could climb down to the edge of
the pit from here.
