This bare alcove is obviously used as a guard post.  Only a lone bench
carved from the granite wall adds decoration to this otherwise spartan room.
The opening faces the Great Hall so that the guard can maintain constant
watch over the area.  The room is so bleak and monotonous, you wonder how
the guards can stay awake to perform their duties.
