The officer's mess is a small, but comfortable cabin equipped with an
expensive table and soft chairs.  The ship's officers gather here for meals,
to receive orders from the captain, and for other meetings.  There are
portraits on the walls of the previous ship's captains.  The oldest and
largest portrait belongs to the infamous Captain Greybeard.  There are
several lanterns hanging from the walls.  Within the southern wall is a
dumbwaiter that lifts meals and drinks up from the galley below.
