This close to the forge, the air burns your lungs, making it painful to
breath.  The heat is so INTENSE you feel your skin searing painfully, and
the clothing on your body beginning to smoulder and burn.  You look around
frantically for a means of escape from the damaging heat.  
A soot covered slave toils away here for his master.
A blacksmith apprentice wanders around busily working the forge.
