Your keen sense of smell tells you that you are on the trail of the
roper.  This area is almost too out of place to be real, seemingly a
diversion created by magic.  As you ponder what powerful magic may have
forged such a place, you catch the scent of burning fat.  Around the turn in
the trail several ropers are lurking.  As soon as they spot you, they begin
to slither in your direction.  You spot a quick exit into the top of a
cavern below you, and a break in the illusion of a wooden door above you.
A stump-like creature waves its tentacles at you menacingly.
