This walkway seems eerily quiet compared to the bustle of the city.  The
walls and floor are dark granite.  Your footsteps echo loudly off the bare
walls.  Darkness fills the hallway completely.  If the town weren't so
secure, this hallway would be a perfect place for thieves to sneak up and
backstab people.  Occasional whispers drift through the hallway.  A shallow
layer of water has spread across the floor of the lowered floor, likely a
product of a broken drainpipe nearby.
