  There is no bottom to this pit, and you don't have the inertia to make it
to the walls, assuming that there still are any.  There is only a sphere of
radiance about you and your light source, beyond which there is nothing. 
Nothing stops your fall, and nothing prevents you from gradually achieving
supersonic speeds.  You travel faster than your voice can scream, which may
not be the best thing to do anyway.  It appears that this endless pit will
just keep you captive until you starve to death, or die of old age. 
Perhaps, over the course of the next several decades, the last years of your
life, you will gain insight to the nature and purpose of magical barriers.
