A statue of impressive design and color stands in the corner of this bay.
It is a detailed representation of Diocletian, and like the other three
tetrarch statues, characterizes the man with chiseled marble stone.  The
rich detail in the moldings of the pendentive bay is enhanced by the
contrast of colored stone, which gives a peculiar crisp and vivid sparkle to
the interior.  You are motivated to continue north, to the tetrarch chamber.
