These niches effect a close integration between inner and outer spaces
that, otherwise, would simply have existed side by side as independent
units.  Colored lighting is provided by the large clerestory stained glass
windows to your east, it dims the interior and sheds a colored shot of light
of great beauty over the floor and columns that enclose the room.  A
octagonal forechoir can be seen to your west.
