You are in the cave of a mad gnome.  The walls are smooth but hot to the
touch.  In the corner of the room you see a large machine that resembles a
mole.  A closed circular tunnel is to the north, but there is no way in from
what you can see.  The gnome is very knowledgable and may be able to guide
'Looking for a way through the crust?' the Mad Gnome says. 'For 10000 gold I can send you to the mantle via my invention, The Mad Mole!'
