In the center of this remarkable hallway is a copper staircase decending
downward.  On the surrounding floor is a facinating decorative pattern of
hexagons and triangles, and rather modest light-sources clearly illuminate
this hallway, The rectilinear hallway extends west, and a flamboyant archway
to your north leads into the Gallery portion of the triforium.
