In the walls of the these catacombs are openings, cut to receive the
bodies of the dead.  These openings called locui, are very shelf-like in
appearance, and are hewn out of the bedrock to create the eternal resting
areas for the dead.  Many of these openings contain rotting corpses, the
smell of which irritates your stomach.  The catacomb passage continues in a
east and west direction.
