Planking of solid wood forms the street and bleached white ropes strung
between posts of oak along the sides substitute for fencing, giving this
street the look of a wharf.  Crisp, salty sea air lends a bite to the
breezes sweeping through the lane and the shrill cries of seagulls overhead
sound mournful.
