Through the years the limestone has been carved away by water, leaving
this niche.  Pelicans have built a huge nest of hay, linen and other
scavenged cloth to live and raise their young.  Bird droppings cover the
periphery of the room, in an almost ritualistic manner.  The air stinks of
rotten fish carcasses.
