Descending, foot by foot, through the earthwork catacombs below the
graveyard path, each footfall rumbles through the loose, black adobe clay
like an aftershock.  The soil itself is dense, yet packed in loosely-
adhering clumps, which crumble when handled.  Bones, rocks, petrified twigs,
and all manner of other stuff lies about in the dirt, indicating that this
location plays host to many events of upheaval and distress.
