Walking is quite difficult here, as the walls on both sides have squeezed
together - on one side the stone of the main monastery building, the other,
the short wooden fence of the orchard.  The ground is covered with a fine
gravel, and a tiny cloud of dust appears at every fallen foot.  A glance
upward shows the monastery as a relatively small building, uniformly grey. 
It has been kept up, but only to the barest levels of functionality.
