A Stairway Forgotten to the Ages                       -      -      -

A heavy layer of dust lies on the stone stairway that weaves about
stalagmites and stillwater pools on its way down.  It looks as though this
stairway has traversed this stairway in decades, if not centuries.  Whatever
magmic heat was present upstairs is long-gone a sterile, still chill washes
over everything, despite the notable lack of wind.  Something must have once
been worth carving this staircase for, but sheer probability dicates that
after being untouched for so long, the cavern's treasures are long gone.
