The pounding of drums seems to match the intensity of blows as combat
rages around the arena.  Several warriors, some wearing nothing more than
cloth pants, wheel and circle each other.  Combat seems to be between pairs
only, each battle lasting as long as it needs to.  Some warriors flee the
arena in disgrace, while others stubbornly fight to death rather than
dishonor themselves.  The musky smell of burning incense quickens the pulse
and increases the desire for each combatant to reach for their weapon,
everyone eager to experience the rush of battle.
