You are standing at the foot of an iron spiral staircase that winds
upward into darkness.  Far above, you can see a landing of sorts, and above
that, a soft, bluish-tinted light glows.  Various paintings hang on the
circular walls of the stairwell, and an occasional niche contains a
priceless statue.  A shadowy hallway leads west.
