This expansive wooded area was originally set aside as a wildlife refuge
for the animals that were displaced by the city's construction.  However,
the criminal element in the town quickly recognized the forest's potential,
and made it their primary base of operation.  The small path you've been
following branches again, leading deeper into the woods to the southeast and
southwest.
