The trail you have been following through the woods has been getting
progressively fainter as you travel further.  In fact, it's gotten to the
point where you must stoop down while walking in order to follow the path. 
You about to panic when you realize that you can no longer see the trail
beneath your feet, but you look up and see a small hut in the center of a
clearing to the south.  While the hut is probably home to a band of thieves,
it may be your only chance of finding the way back out of the forest.
