This tiny pier off Bastion Road runs into the canal, and is used as a
launching point for the gondolas.  The dock is made from sturdy timber, and
seems fairly safe to stand on.  Looking into the water, you notice that it
is rather cloudy, and decide that it probably wouldn't be safe to swim in. 
Dry land is back to the west.  A small landing for gondolas is right here to
the north.  When a gondola arrives the plank is placed on the landing making
entry into a gondola easy.
