This rather disgusting shell must have belonged to a coprophage, a scavenger
that can be found in dark areas.  These elongated monstrosities feed upon
rotten carcasses, and it is said that they prefer corpses that have been
left to decay over fresh ones.  From the smell of it, the creature that
inhabited this shell must have recently eaten something that had been dead
for a while.
