Observation 15 –241 Rune Forest, New Rigel
"Assist a birdwatcher in Rune Forest."

Talk to Servos in Rune Forest and ask him about eagles. Retrieve the diseased eagle egg (unknown repop rate) from the eagle's nest in the Thieves' Forest and bring it to Servos. Then go to the places you're told to find an ornithologist who can cure the egg. After it's healed, return to Servos to get the Mark.

"For thy efforts of observation, the Powers granted thee a Mark."

OLD VERSION:

Return the diary (appears on the ground, seems to be near the bird watcher) to the bird watcher in Rune Forest. Now go to the eagle's nest in Thieves Forest in New Rigel and get the egg. Return the egg to the birdwatcher in Rune Forest. If the bird hatches, make sure to feed it before it dies. Once hatched, walk into the room with the birdwatcher to acquire the Mark.
You manage to get enough grip on the branch above to pull yourself upwards.

WARNING: You are in a LAWFUL PLAYER KILLING room.      -      -      -

The canopy of the forest seems to have opened up here, just enough for a
large bird to fly down to build a nest.  Two tall branches hang above
forming an archway of shade, and as the wind filters through it, the soft
scent of fresh pine fills the air.  From here, the view of the forest canopy
is amazing, and you can see the various forms of forest life below.  The
only exit out of here is the branch below, and even that looks precarious.
Some drops of blood are on the ground.
The severed wing of an arrogant eagle is lying here.
A large straw and twig nest is attached firmly to the branch.

You take a diseased eagle egg from a large nest.
A diseased eagle egg seems to move about in your hand.
Perhaps you can take this egg to Servos the birdwatcher in Rune Forest.

The forest to the east looks utterly impassable, blocking even the most
insane adventurers.  Ancient trees clustered close together are ringed with
tangle vines, strangle weeds, barbed bushes and what looks like several
species of murderweeds.  Considering how bad it is, there are probably
dungeon traps tiling the ground.  However, if desperate curiosity calls,
begging to explore the other side, you could walk around and into Rune Park.
A young tree of good size just about scrapes the canopy above.
A white rabbit is here, twitching its nose.
A jovial halfling scans the skies for a bird or three.
'That egg looks horrific!' Servos, the bird watcher exclaims. 'What disease is that?! Bird diseases aren't er...ah...my specialty. '
Servos, the bird watcher frowns.  Don't you wonder what the problem is?
Servos, the bird watcher says, 'If we leave it like that, it's going to kill the eaglet within...'
'You might be best trying the Inn of the Twin Moons!' Servos, the bird watcher exclaims. 'I've heard there's an ornithologist there who might be able to help!'
Take the egg to the Inn of the Twin Moons.

To the west, sounds of merriment fill the area and waves of laughter
ripple throughout the common room as one of the performers tells a funny
joke to the crowd.  There is a simple yet well crafted table here with
wooden benches on three of its four sides while the fourth side butts up
against a window looking out on the countryside.  Serving women bustle
about, serving mugs of ale and platters of delicious looking food.
There is a small wooden table surrounded by three benches in the corner.
A dusty man sits at the table, reading a book on birds.
A wandering ornithologist gasps as he realizes what you just did.
A wandering ornithologist exclaims, 'That egg!'
'That's from the little-known zipwing eagle!' a wandering ornithologist exclaims. 'Those are rumored to have once lived in Rune Forest, but I haven't ever seen one!'
'What is...that covering it, though?' a wandering ornithologist asks. 'Some kind of disease?!'
'You'd better take it to my friend in Lowangen!' a wandering ornithologist exclaims. 'He should be in the city hall somewhere. Go quickly, that disease is spreading, and if you leave it too long it's going to kill the bird!'
Take the egg to Lowangen, and fast.

The city clerk's office is full of documents and other things.  There is
a ton of paperwork to be done, and the employees are very busy all the time.
On the counter are various notices to the citizens of the town, and a few
maps are displayed as well.  Copies of the map are available for a donation
of 250 gold, payable to the clerk.
A nervy man sits in the corner, working through some records.
The city clerk is here doing her daily work.
An ornithologist gasps as he realizes what you just did.
'A zipwing eagle egg!' an ornithologist exclaims. 'How did you...nevermind that, why is it afflicted with stalkworm pustulence?!'
'Let me see if I can fix that...' an ornithologist says.
An ornithologist smears conduit paste on the egg.
An ornithologist concentrates, channeling energy onto the diseased eagle egg.
An ornithologist frowns.  Don't you wonder what the problem is?
'It's not coming off.' an ornithologist says. 'This affliction is too deep, and my energy exhausted. You need one more attempt at this - take it to Thorlga in the Lonely Dragon Inn, west of the Forest.'
Take the egg to the Lonely Dragon Inn, and fast.

Located all along the wall in this corner of the Common Room are pegs for
the weary traveler to hang his or her cloak.  Located in the corner of the
room, near the ceiling, a variation of a Wizard Eye spell keeps track of who
leave and take cloaks.  Scattered about the room of oaken hooks are cloaks
and capes of all colors.  Several pieces of armor and boots lie scattered
about the floor and leaning against the walls.
A well-used cape hangs here loosely on a hook.
An unshaven thief stalks silently in the shadows here.
A patron of the tavern wanders aimlessly about.

(Gold Aura) A tall, sinuous minotaur stretches out in the corner.
'That zipwing egg is dying, and fast.' Thorlga says. 'You've already visited Joar in Lowangen then? He's not strong enough to deal with this kind of disease.'
'Let me see if I can fix that...' Thorlga says.
Thorlga smears conduit paste on the egg.
Thorlga concentrates, channeling energy onto the diseased eagle egg.
Thorlga cheers at her victory.
'And there you go!' Thorlga exclaims. 'One disease-free zipwing egg. I think this is going to be a VERY healthy bird!'
Take the egg back to Rune Forest.

I had trouble with this part, the ornithologist didn't want to trigger on me until katran made me flee out of the room with her scariness. Then it worked when I walked back in. Told me to go to lowangen city hall.

The eaglet inside this huge egg is apparently ready to hatch, considering
how it's rocking back and forth violently. While a healthy warmth comes
from it, some sort of disease has apparently infected it while in the
mother's nest, which might explain why she was so desperately protective.
Brown and black pustulence covers the shell, and seems to be slowly
spreading. The only way to save this rare little bird and get it back to
Servos is in time is to find someone who can cure rare diseases, let alone
for birds like this. Best run quickly, lest it crack open and die.

This egg will crack open in 2214 seconds.
