This gigantic piece of machinery looms high above the river.  The boom of
the crane extends about thirty feet into the air, and you can see a number
of large pulleys near the top.  A thick steel cable extends down to the
river, a large hook at the end.  Thanks to its clever design, the crane
allows workers to unload extremely heavy crates from passing ships with
relative ease.
