This is the room right above the high altar on the base floor of the
temple.  Apparently the gleaming light the altar gives off continues its
emination upwards into this room.  You see a staircase along the walls of
this room that will lead you to the third floor.  Of course, the light being
so bright, you may end up hurting your eyes if you climb too slowly.
