  You have stumbled upon a huge hole in the tunnel.  Veins of red ore flow
in streaks along the walls of the hole.  A set of stairs has been carved in
to the side of the hole, leaving a gaping hole in the center.  Peering down
the hole, a glowing red circle can be seen through the rising heat trails.
