This wide tunnel appears to be very well used by the residents of Vir. 
Since it circles the majority of the caverns and caves that make up the
city, it has been well maintained and serves as the main thoroughfare within
the city.  The flames along the torches flicker as the people rush by in a
hurry to accomplish their tasks.  
A slimy mass oozes along scavenging the roads for bits of debris left by travelers.
