The smoky air hums with dark energy as you approach the altar.  Dark
stains mar the gray stone walls and floor around the ornate obsidian altar. 
A vile stench seems to permeate the room and feed some dark force.  A pair
of iron torchieres holding the remains of a multitude of greasy yellow
tallow candles flank the altar and cast a dull light over its dark surface. 
A gray bat flies about the city.
A drooling orcish slave wanders about picking his newly grown scabs.
