This wide tunnel appears to be very well used by the residents of Vir. 
Since it circles the majority of the caverns and caves that make up the
city, it has been well maintained and serves as the main thoroughfare within
the city.  Torches line the walls providing ample light for those rushing
along the tunnel as they go about their business.  Darkened windows in a
building to the south do not allow much of the lighting in the tunnel to
penetrate.
