This turn in the staircase gives home to a small tribe of ice trolls. 
They sit, hunched over a freshly killed snow rabbit, merrily eating away. 
Not only do they ignore you, but get aggravated when you do not leave and
possibly feel threatened.  You explore your exits, and notice the stairs
leading downwards to the southwest into a large pool, and upwards further
into the tower to the northwest.
