The two rooms leading to this intersection are bright compared to this
darkened passage above the palace's south wall.  A short hall leaves south
into a wide marble room overlooking the castle's south drawbridge.  The main
palace hall is barely visible around a tall pillar to the north.  The floor
is wet with muddy footprints.
