Room: Cloister Court
This room is within Palace of Diocletian.
Cloister Court - - - (-------------------------------------------------) W <---(M)---> E - - - The cloister is an indispensable feature of the Diocletian architecture, used to add dimension to the art and nature of the palace. At the four corners are thin, clustered piers that aid in supporting the massive quadrant vault that roofs this central core. Directly centered in the room is an heroic sized marble bench, waiting to ease the tired souls that sit upon it. A large statue stands behind the bench, raised on a dwarfish stone platform, it is one of the great masterpieces found in the palace, the Winged Jehdi. Around the cloister are grouped the most essential buildings, the marketplace to the east, the church to west, and the central garden running north and south.
